See Appendix for product level DFSS scorecards.
Technical Conformance Sheet
See Appendix for technical conformance data sheet.
RELIABILITY
Reliability Program
Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Design FMEA’s must be completed on major components prior to testing so that failure models are anticipated and defined. The FMEA’s should be based on the Functional Block Diagrams. Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) is an acceptable alternative reliability analysis method for complex control systems with embedded software. Based on the FMEA analysis, the Supplier must define critical components and/or subsystems. All Significant Failure Modes must be addressed in a Documented Reliability Risk Abatement Plan written by supplier. Use analysis and testing to resolve each significant failure.
Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
GEA and PQE shall have an internal FRACAS system for reporting and investigating reliability test failures (Supplier report formats are acceptable). In addition, Suppliers must support on-going GEA reliability improvement efforts through root cause analysis of field return units/parts. FRACAS reporting shall include all observations of failures, excessive vibration, excessive noise, leakage, restrictions, electrical shorts/burnout, speed change, flow change, and all other notable exceptions of the operation and performance.
Reliability Scorecard
See Appendix for reliability scorecard.
- Minimum requirements for reliability are outlined in the Design for Reliability Scorecard.
Design Life
The dishwasher shall be of a safe and stable construction. They should be designed and manufactured with materials capable of withstanding expected use, abuse and shipping without damage or inconvenience to the consumer.
The measure of reliability to be used will be the composite 1 and 10 year service call rates for the entire unit. This number represents the fleet average of the units that will be produced under this specification. The supplier is obligated to develop a product that prevents and minimizes all service calls with the product and its operation. In doing so, the supplier must develop and present all subsystem baseline and subsystem interaction data for the subsystems
The dishwasher shall have a design life of 3220 cycles. This represents 10 years of life for a 50th percentile user running 322 cycles per year. System Level Reliability testing must indicate 99% reliability at 1 year life with a 90% confidence level and 90% reliability, at design life, with a 90% confidence level. The design life of the door subsystem shall be 100,000 opening/closing cycles, demonstrating 99% reliability at 90% confidence. Other components may have a higher design cycle requirement, as specified in the product conformance sheet, but unless otherwise stated, all component level testing must indicate at least 99% reliability at 90% confidence.
Reliability Test Design: The reliability qualification test plan and number of units to be tested will be defined upon completion of design and prototype meeting design specifications listed in Section . Reliability tests will be run to failure unless otherwise agreed and GEA Reliability Engineering must approve the test plan.
Reliability Performance
Qualification testing – Qualification testing for the system to be accomplished through any array of component tests to validate the individual critical components SCR and via System Level Accelerated Testing (SLAT). The purpose of SLAT testing is to exercise the unit systems sufficiently to expose subsystem interactions that can lead to consumer dissatisfaction. Failure modes discovered will be analyzed via both Duane and Crow plotting. SLAT testing shall continue until the mean time between failures (MTBF) requirements are satisfied.
System Level Reliability Testing
Reliability goal for System Level Accelerated Test (SLAT): MTBF of 1/(hardware SCR).
Hardware SCR obtained from the DFR scorecard shown in Appendix
