何謂確效（Validation）
確效（Validation），就是確定、確認方法有效。在製造的過程中，需要透過層層的確認，來證實安全性及其品質確實有效、可靠，而為了達到此一目的，就必需針對各種與生產有關的事項、細節，做一串符合科學性的評鑑，包括各種儀器、製造分析方法、製造過程、支援系統……等等，文件化證明，受到控制，這些過程就統稱為確效。
安裝驗證（IQ）
Installation Qualification主要目的是在確認所購買的設備是否與原訂規格相符，包括：設備或系統鑑別、設備基本資料查驗、設備主要組件查驗、相關零件查驗、安裝規格查驗、現場安裝測試、安裝驗證結果評定。
操作驗證（OQ）
Operational Qualification是在IQ驗證合格後執行，其主要目的在驗證儀器設備各項操作配備之個別性能，包括機器各部分的開關是否正常、各控制器的基本性能操作（系統壓力極限，Pump流量準確性及線性驗證、軟體的操作、儀器的清潔及例行保養……等等。最基本需確認操作極限範圍與正常運轉所需操作，之後必需建立設備操作功能之書面資料，確定驗證週期（校正……），在規定時間內完成例行性再驗證，確定機器例行運轉正常，並記錄日常使用情況。
性能驗證（PQ）
Performance Qualification主要目的除了在測試儀器設備的整體性能外，還必需藉由特定的實驗方法，測試相關人員的操作技巧。之後建立書面資料，確定驗證週期，以後需在規定的時間內完成例行性的再驗證。
